Fifth Grade Enrichment 2007-08
Funtown Field Trip - June 2008ield Trip - June 2006v
The fifth grade is going on their annual field trip to Funtown. They will be using the information that they learned from their small machines unit and physics unit to learn how the rides work. Then they will be able to ride them and some some fun!
The fifth grade
students had the distinct pleasure and opportunity to have Gordon Corbett, a
Maine educator and teacher-astronaut candidate finalist to present a
cumulative lesson on energy and forces. Using his vast collection of
educational toys he demonstrated the physics and scientific applications of
everyday ordinary things. His steam engine and his wind-up helicopter were
particularly big hits. Much of his lesson was to help us prepare for our
Funtown Physics Day on June 6th.

Students will walk the Freedom Trail, making connections with the events they've studied throughout the year. How lucky we are to live so close to so much history!
Gordon Corbett - April 2006 Gordon Corbett is an award-winning science teacher, storyteller. and writer. After decades of teaching in the public school system, he left to start his own educational consulting service: Orbit With Corbett. Gordon Corbett visits enhance the students learning of science and their study of energy in motion. The kids love how Mr. Corbett can make science so much fun!
